Receptive Expressions is a boutique, therapist owned, private practice, that specializes in neuro-affirming, child-led, speech and language therapy services for children birth-18.
Therapy is conducted in a naturalistic setting, using a variety of highly preferred and engaging materials. When combined, these methods both promote and foster spontaneous communication. Receptive Expressions currently offers specialized speech and language therapy services in home, at daycare/preschool, and via teletherapy!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
If you or your family members have frequent trouble understanding your child and/or you notice your child has frequent communication breakdowns or delayed developmental/communication skills, they may be a candidate for speech therapy services. It is important to reach out to a skilled, licensed Speech Language Pathologist to conduct appropriate screening and evaluation measures to determine whether speech therapy is recommended for your child. If your child is found eligible for services, your child’s pediatrician will often write a referral so you may begin treatment.
-
In-home services are provided to families within a 15 mile radius from the Grant park area. Families within a 10 mile radius are eligible for 30-60 min therapy sessions, where families outside of 10 miles require a minimum 45 minute therapy session (due to extended travel time).
Families outside of a 15 mile radius will be serviced via teletherapy OR may discuss with SLP the possibility of providing therapy at child’s school (private or daycare) if it falls within a 10-15 mile radius.
-
A formal evaluation or diagnosis is NOT required to initiate services. However, if it has been over a year since your child’s last evaluation and/or your child has never been evaluated for speech therapy, the SLP will strongly encourage an evaluation in order to ensure goals and objectives are aligned with the child's current strengths and overall level of functioning. An evaluation is typically required for potential reimbursement purposes. (commercial insurances only)
-
At this time, Receptive Expressions LLC is NOT in network with Medicaid/Medicare or commercial insurances. A good faith estimate is provided to all families detailing expected charges for the duration of treatment. Receptive Expressions is dedicated to providing specialized services for all families and therefore offers slightly reduced rates for bundled “pay-up-front” services.
-
Receptive Expressions LLC cannot guarantee reimbursement, nor submit claims for reimbursement on behalf of the client. It is the client’s responsibility to check with their insurance provider prior to the start of services. After you have discussed reimbursement for speech therapy services with your provider, please contact your SLP so that they may provide these documents to you. A superbill will be provided along with an invoice for all services rendered, which will include detailed information required for reimbursement.
